Player app

Runs on hardware you can buy anywhere

Native Android and Android TV, plus the same browser player packaged for Tizen, webOS, Raspberry Pi, Windows kiosk and ChromeOS. Store certification of SoC TVs is still a signing step — the player itself is the hosted /play app.

📦

Android TV / Fire TV

The usual choice. Cheap, silent, and they sit behind the screen on a bracket. The APK already declares a Leanback launcher.

📺

Samsung Tizen & LG webOS

Commercial SoC TVs load the hosted browser player as a web app. Signing and store listing remain a deployment step.

🍓

Raspberry Pi, Windows, ChromeOS

`sudo linux/install.sh` on Pi OS Lite installs Chromium, autologin and a systemd watchdog. Windows and ChromeOS kiosk scripts sit beside it. Store-signed Tizen/webOS packages remain a signing step.

On the device

Built to be left alone

These screens run for months without anyone touching them, so the player assumes nobody is watching it.

  • Starts automatically after a power cut or reboot.

  • Holds the display awake, with an optional nightly sleep window.

  • Caches media so playback survives a network outage.

  • Shows a clear offline screen with diagnostics for installers.

  • Recovers by itself once the connection returns.

  • Locks to landscape and hides system UI.
